MDPR Takes in 19 Birds From a Hoarding Case
A few weeks ago we were contacted by Aurora Animal Shelter to assist with a hoarding situation. Could we take in 19 small birds (18 budgies and 1 cockatiel) and pick them up within 2 days? they asked, and yes was our answer.
We carefully manage our foster home quarantine resources so that we have a space for emergencies such as these. Cages, toys and perches that had been donated to MDPR from our supporters were promptly set up and delivered to the foster home taking in these birds, and quarantine supplies set up. Then a core team member picked up the birds from Aurora Animal Shelter and delivered them to the foster home, where they promptly began receiving the proper care.
These 19 birds will spend the next 45 days under quarantine, and at the end they will all be listed for adoption and we will work diligently to find loving homes for them.
In order to be able to do this kind of rescue work in our community we need the financial support of people like you who value the lives of birds and recognize the need for MDPR in the Metro Denver community. We invite you to support us by making gift of $10, $20 or more to help us provide this care, click here to donate and receive a gift of two MDPR stickers to show your support!
